I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a specialization in psychophysiology, a MA in clinical psychology, and a BS in respiratory sciences. I have experience in neuropsychology that is enhanced with my specialization in psychophysiology and medical background as a registered respiratory therapist. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, families, and married couples. I have experience in working with combat PTSD, childhood trauma, family dysfunction, blended families, military families, parental separation, victims of narcissistic abuse, anxiety, depression, PTSD, borderline personality disorders, OCD, substance abuse, ASD, phase of life changes, and more. I facilitate combat PTSD group sessions in addition to individual sessions and family.
I utilize evidence-based psychotherapy treatments that are best tailored to the specific client I am working with. Different approaches are utilized based on my client’s needs, such as strength-based approach, DBT, CBT, Christian counseling, sand-tray play therapy, emotion-focused, narrative therapy, and more. I understand every client is a unique individual with their own unique needs. I value the importance of learning to ground by utilizing integrative techniques and resources to help my clients enhance skills that facilitate growth beyond the therapeutic session. I have experience in neuropsychological testing and evaluating neuropsychological disorders, which enhances my clinical and therapeutic skills.
I have a strong passion for nature, animals, and equine assisted psychotherapy, which encompasses my doctoral research: “an interpretative phenomenological analysis of the adult child of divorce experience in equine-assisted psychotherapy.” My study developed from my own personal journey and unexpected healing with my horse. Prior to my doctoral study, I published the book, “the value of a horse in today’s westernized world.” Writing my book was my groundwork for my doctoral study. Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with family, my animals (horse, dog, and bird), camping, surfing, playing guitar, free-diving, swimming, hiking, dancing, attending church and watching football. I strongly value the importance of balancing self-care, family, and career.
I consider it an honor to work with my clients by helping them achieve the personal growth they desire. It is personally rewarding to see my clients heal. My overall goal for my client is to help them live a more joyous life, to live in the present, and to achieve healthy relationships and boundaries with others.
Currently, I can accept the following insurances: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Cigna and Tricare. If you have other insurance, I can provide a superbill for you to request reimbursement and I also offer low cash rates for sessions as well.
